Epilepsy Awareness for SEND Passenger Transport
Refresh and develop your existing SEND transport knowledge through passenger-specific preparation, safe seizure response and reporting. Written for drivers, passenger assistants or escorts, supervisors and managers who already work in SEND passenger transport, the course takes you from understanding epilepsy and recognising convulsive and non-convulsive seizures, through passenger-specific planning before travel and safe seizure first aid, into the separate roles of driver and passenger assistant during a journey, supporting passengers in wheelchairs, seatbelts and harnesses, and knowing when to call 999, finishing with recovery, dignified communication, factual reporting and handover. Four applied transport scenarios put it into practice. Each lesson unlocks when the previous one is complete; you then take a 15-question assessment (pass mark 12 out of 15), record a short reflection on your own practice and answer a one-minute feedback form, and your certificate is available straight away.
